Though I didn't attend Beer Bike this year, I did catch up with a few alums over the weekend. Newlywed Jenn has been back in Houston for a few weeks as she prepares to study for the Step 1 on April 1 (or thereabouts). We have had some really quality chats over the phone but it was especially nice to see her face-to-face and relax for a bit. Incidentally, Beer Bike was a bit of a bust this year. The alumni race was a rainy run instead of a bike, and the undergrad races were postponed. Apparently, the races happened on Sunday and were a bit lackluster. If I keep up my spin schedule at the gym, maybe I'll bike on next year's alumni team for Hanszen!

New Zealand Adventures
The trip began the way every trip should- with chocolate! I had some truly divine morsels to keep me company on the long trip across the Pacific. With merely a regulation-sized carry-on and a backpack, I was feeling pretty good about my expert packing skills. That was, of course, until I noticed I left my charging camera in Houston. Shucks!
I must have been pretty exhausted during my travels because the movie marathon that I had been looking forward to on the long flight didn't really happen. Thankfully, I made up for it on the way back! I went from flying in the biggest plane I've flown on (nearly 400 seats! - full) to probably the smallest commercial plane (just 19 seats- less than half-full).
Perhaps the most exciting thing that happened to me was having my pen explode all over me. The crappy pic with my cell phone doesn't do the mess justice. I think I'll have to give the win to Sam for best travel stories. Exploding pen vs. Lady Gaga? Yeah.
